  • PROFILER Announces New EP “Masquerading Self”, Premieres New Song “Luciferian” on BBC Radio 1

  • Bristol-based nu-metal band PROFILER, consisting of Mike Evans (vocals/guitar), Joe Johnson (bassist). Jacob Andrews (drums) and Jay Evans (guitar), has announced their upcoming EP “Masquerading Self” will be released on December 4, 2025.

The EP comprises 6 tracks, produced by Tom Cory. It is their first self-released record.

The band said of the EP, “This is our first self-released EP. We believe it's our strongest body of sound and we're really proud of the work that's gone into it and the result we've managed to achieve.”

From the EP, the band premiered a new song “Luciferian” on BBC Radio 1's Future Artists with Sian Eleri.
The song is the third single off, following “Dope” and “Waste”.
It was written by Jacob Andrews, Joe Johnson, and Michael Evans. Produced by Tom Cory. The accompanying music video was directed by Joe Johnson.

The band said of the song, “'Luciferian' is the sister song lyrically to Dope. It discusses the themes of negative energy felt within another person and listening to your intuition when you are in the wrong relationship.”
  • The band frontman Mike Evans told Sian Eleri about the song, “This was a kind of toxic relationship. That's what the song, theme, lyrical theme, is based on and it's kind of a expression of the story of that relationship through lyrical content. So that's kind of what it's about.”

He continued, “It's kind of the majority of stuff we've done up to date has been written by myself. And then we go into the rehearsal room, we kind of tweak it. This actual last track is written by Joe, our bass player. So this is the first song we've released as a band that isn't written by me. So I can't actually take credit for this one because it was by Joe.”

  • He said of the EP, “I think it's an evolution from last year's album. I think we kind of were a bit more eager to get the kind of production done in the way that we wanted it. It's not that it wasn't done in the way we wanted it done on last album. But it's sort of got a bit more of an aggressive punch to this side of the production, and I suppose we've got a bit more to our roots with the original EP in terms of our heaviness. Because, the album was a little bit less heavy than the stuff we're writing now. So it's just an evolution of our sound, which I think people will continue to see as we keep releasing music after this as well.”
