  • Octavian Winters Returns With New Song “Hermine”

  • San Francisco-based post-punk band Octavian Winters, consisting of Ria Aursjoen (vocals/keyboards), Stephan Salit (guitars/vocals), Randy Gzebb (drums) and Jay Denton (bass), returned with a new song “Hermine” on August 12, 2025.

The song is the their first music in two years since the 2023 EP “The Line or Curve”.
Also, the track will appear on their upcoming debut album of the same name, which is expected to be released in early 2026 via Stratis Capta Records.
The lyrics reference the novel Steppenwolf by Hesse, and explore the nature of the fragmented psyche and passionately urges the freedom of self acceptance.
Sonically, the song is based on rhythmic drums and bass with heavy guitar riffs, exploring those hard edges.
It was written by Octavian Winters and Ria Aursjoen. The band recorded the track with producer William Faith at OW Studios in San Francisco.
  • The band lead singer Ria Aursjoen said of the song, “Hermine was wonderful to write and sing because it has a real no-holds-barred energy about it. I was also able to revisit some of my metal roots, in terms of vocal delivery, which was both fun and cathartic. The lyrics reference the novel Steppenwolf by Hesse, and explore the nature of the fragmented psyche and passionately urges the freedom of self acceptance.”

Drumeer Randy Gzebb added, “It feels like the song is moving forward with unstoppable momentum. This is one of my favorite songs to play live. I started out writing this as an homage to Geordie Walker (R. I. P. ) but it took on a life of its own and well, here we are.”
