Mae Muller Releases New EP “My Island”
London-based singer-songwriter Mae Muller released a new EP “My Island” on July 18, 2025.
The EP is her first project in two years since the 2023 debut album “Sorry I'm Late”.
Also. It is the first release as an independent artist. She left Capitol Records in 2024. Mae Muller said, “Not having a label has forced me to trust myself, which is a really powerful tool. It's isolated, but safe. It might not be perfect, but it's mine and I'm keeping it afloat.”
The EP comprises 5 tracks, including preceding singles “Breakaway” and “In My Head”.
On the EP, she worked with producers Gil Lewis, Henrik Michelsen and Shurk.
Mae Muller said of the EP, “This EP has been my little labour of love over the past year, I've laughed, cried and danced making it and i'm just so excited to release it out in to the world!!! I've been creating my own space where I can make what I want, not waiting on other peoples opinions or stressing over a deadline, just making music in the most honest way. I found a lil team of people that really inspire me and was lucky enough to do this with.”- She told DORK about the EP, “'My Island' is a body of work I can fully stand behind and say I wouldn't have done this any other way. It documents the past few years in exactly the way I'd want it. It's fun, you can dance to it, you can shake your arse to it – and it's also a little sad at times. That's the life experience. I find the beauty in that, and this EP has really helped me look at that in a positive way.”
She continued, “It's weird, but before I got signed, there were endless possibilities and I could go anywhere – and now it's come full circle. It's a whole new world.” -
Mae Muller explained track-by-track for the EP.

“We were listening to All Saints, Seal and Madonna's 'Ray Of Light'. A lot of old school stuff. I was loving Addison Rae and Charli xcx, the icons of this day and age – but I thought, who were they inspired by? And that made me dig a bit deeper. You have these sessions where magic happens. We were talking and writing, and by the end, we had a whole song. This is it. This encapsulates everything I wanted to say.”

“That song is simply about having fun/ There's no deeper meaning to that song apart from: you better get up and start dancing right this second. Sometimes we just need that. It doesn't make you feel anything else but joy. As we were writing it, we were laughing and saying: can we say this? Can we say that he's massaging my feet while we're watching Jimmy Fallon? I said, why not?! I say that so much when I'm writing. Why not? I've been performing that at festivals. I think performing an unreleased song is a good way to give it a test run because there's that direct connection with fans, but it got people moving and singing along.”
“In My Head”
“I wrote this song like I was writing a diary entry, more like a stream of consciousness. It comes from a vulnerable place which can be uncomfortable, but also, it's such a privilege. Now, I'm really able to take control and write my feelings exactly how I want and in my own voice, and I'm really enjoying the power that comes with that. It feels really special.”

“I'm such an oversharer anyway. I've always found it really therapeutic, and I've loved that side of making music – being able to have it like a diary entry.”
“Breakaway”
“I wrote 'Breakaway' in a time when I felt quite lost as an artist, I was putting so much pressure on myself with my newfound independence, that after a while I just decided to get in the studio and pour everything out and whatever I ended up with, at least it would be a weight off my chest. That was the 13th June last year and has ended up being one of my favourite songs that I've ever written and the start to this new era. It's about navigating vulnerability, but also finding my power within it, whilst not losing the joy along the way.” - source : Apple Music
