IOTA Releases New Song “Sober”
Bristol-based alt-rock band IOTA, consisting of Jodie Robinson (vocals), Josef Parkes (guitar), Sam Mattison (bass), Joe Dean (guitar) and James Luker (drums), released a new song “Sober” on July 24, 2025.
The song is the third single of 2025, following “Smile On” and “Out Of Here”.
Blending cathartic vocals with gritty guitar work, the track offers a gripping exploration of dependency, emotional chaos, and the search for escape.
It delves into the haunting experience of leaning on a vice-whether substance, feeling, or person, to get through life, even when you know it's doing more harm than good.
The track was written by James Luker, Jodie Robinson, Joe Dean, Josef Parkes, and Sam Mattison. Produced by Sam Bloor.
The band has already filmed a music video directed by Ben Hunt, which is coming soon.- The band lead singer Jodie Robinson said of the song, “Sober is about relying so heavily on something that life feels impossible without it. Like an addiction you know it's harmful, but nothing feels right in its absence. You turn to it to silence the noise, to escape when everything else feels wrong.”
They added, “This one means so much to us, it's about the grip of craving an escape even when you know it's the thing that's hurting you. Big thanks to Sam Bloor and Jonny Price on the production, mix and master. Video coming soon by the legend Ben Hunt.” -
