Burna Boy Premieres New Song “Change Your Mind” featuring Shaboozey on BBC Radio 1
Nigerian singer-songwriter Burna Boy premiered a new song “Change Your Mind” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
On the track, he teams up with American country music singer-songwriter Shaboozey.
This marks the first collaboration between Burna Boy and Shaboozey.
The song is the fifth and final pre-release single from his upcoming eighth studio album “No Sign of Weakness”, which is set to be released this Friday (July 11th).
Burna Boy and Shaboozey first performed the song during an afterparty following the 67th Annual Grammy Awards.
The track features a fusion of Afrobeats and country-trap vibes, unlike his previous songs.
It was written by Damini Ogulu and Collins Chibueze.
Burna Boy told Jack Saunders about the song, “To me, so it's nothing short of amazing. Because first of all, it's never been done before, ever. And now you know what it's going to sound like when it happens. I just wish I could play the guitar better.”- The new album comprises 16 tracks, featuring guest appearances from Travis Scott, Mick Jagger, Stromae, and Shaboozey.
It is his first album in two years since the 2023 album “I Told Them...”
Burna Boy said of working with Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger on “Empty Chairs”, “Naomi Campbell actually introduced us. And it was just love since then. And then we've been going back and forth. And finally, he just picked this one, but he had a whole band on there doing this whole thing, like the real Mick Jagger.”
He said of the album, “'No Sign of Weakness'. This is a compilation of love, of pain, of partying, of everything that you would go through as a human. Just all in one and while we go through it, we show no sign of weakness. So that's really what it is behind it. So it's not really a political thing or this is just, it's more of a life thing.” -
