  • Bou Premieres New Song “Satellites” with DRS on BBC Radio 1

  • Manchester-based DJ Bou will release his new mixtape “B-Sides Mixtape” this Friday (July 18th).

From the mixtape, he premiered a new song “Satellites” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
On the track, he teamed up with Manchester-based rapper DRS.
The track was written by Amine Bouguenna and Delroy Pottinger.
After premiering the song, he released another single called “Try Me” from the mixtape.

Bou told Jack Saunders about the song, “Basically, it's about not letting go your dreams and the things that matter to your getting caught up in the rat race of being an artist you forget about what you actually got into it for. And that's the satellite.”
  • He continued, “This tune come about 2022 I think it was when we actually made it during that time, like my dad was obviously ill with cancer, passed away this year. But it was just a time where I think I was just growing up a little bit, and I think that age range from like 25 to even 30 is such a mad like time. Because you're still growing up and you're discovering yourself, and I think that reflected in the music that was producing. I think just some a lot of the music in that time was a little bit deeper. I was experimenting with a lot more, like soulful kind of music.”

DRS said, “We were from Manchester. We cover all styles of drum and bass, and we're just trying things out. Nothing was to come out. Nothing was too super serious, and that's why it's so special that it has come out. Also, Dale's been saying to me for like, two years, like that satellites tune, and I we've made that many tunes. I don't know what it's called or what.”

  • The mixtape comprises 31 tracks. Bou said of the mixtape, “Before my father passed he was always so supportive of my music, and I used to show him some beats and he’d say ‘I like that one are you going to release it?’ And the answer would always be ‘I’m not sure’ and he would laugh and shake his head. But you know what I’m done being unsure, I’m gunna give my fans and supporters all the music you want on one big project. This one’s for you Dad.”
