Militarie Gun Premieres New Song “God Owes Me Money” on BBC Radio 1
Los Angeles-based hardcore punk band band Militarie Gun, consisting of Ian Shelton (vocals), William Acuña (rhythm guitar), Waylon Trim (bass), David Stalsworth (drums), Kevin Kiley (lead guitar), will release their upcoming sophomore album “God Save The Gun” this Frida (October 17) via Loma Vista.
From the album the band premiered a new song “God Owes Me Money” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show.
The song is fourth and final pre-release single, following “Throw Me Away”, “B A D I D E A”, and “Thought You Were Waving”.
It was written by Ian Shelton, Nick Panella, and Phillip Odom. Produced by Riley MacIntyre, Ian Shelton.
The band frontman Ian Shelton told BBC Radio 1 about the song, “This is a song for people who've had a tough time. It's a song that is about my relationship to the idea of fate. And you have no control over those things. So who's responsible for this, like as children born into homes of addiction, or born into any bad situation, born into the wrong part of the world. it's like, who's to say for, who's to answer for all this.”- He continued, “'God Owes Me Money' is my favorite. It's like those lyrics are something I've had for so long. And they mean so much to me. I think that culturally, we've kind of moved on to this idea that harm is done out of malice and kind of intention. And I don't think that that's actually the reality. I think that everyone's struggling with their own thing and does something carelessly, and then that causes a negative reaction for somebody else. Doing that same thing to someone else, whether or not we realize it, something that you even if it's a casual comment you make about someone's appearance or something. That's something that someone can carry with them for the rest of their life, and you don't know it. And so it was really important for me to put out the words, the things you'll never remember, other things I'll never forget.”

The new album comprises 14 tracks, featuring aguest appearance American singer-songwriter Isaac Brock. Produced by
Ian Shelton, lil aaron, Riley MacIntyre and Zachary Dawes.
It is their first album in two years since the 2023 album “Life Under the Gun”
Ian Shelton said of the album, “I'm well aware that being this vulnerable turns my personal trauma into a marketing hook for this album. But I'm fine with it, if not provoking it. Over the past couple years, as I spoke about addiction from the perspective of someone affected by it, I became the one struggling with it. There's a farcical logic to entering a situation, fully knowing the consequences, and doing it anyway - but that's where my head was when I started leaning on drinking.” - source : BBC Radio 1
