  • Wolfberg Covers Audioslave's “I Am The Highway”

  • Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Wolfberg released a cover of American rock band Audioslave's “I Am The Highway” on July 18,2025.

The original version of the song was released by Audioslave from their self-titled debut album in 2002.
The track was written by the late Chris Cornell, Brad Wilk, Tom Morello, and Tim Commerford. The cover version was produced by Dallas Thornton.
Wolfberg transformed the reimagined version into a poignant ballad of self-trust and introspection.

Wolfberg said of the song, “I first heard I Am the Highway when I was 13-and it changed everything. Something about Chris Cornell’s voice, those lyrics, the ache and defiance in them-planted a seed I didn’t totally understand but fully felt at the time. Over the years, the song kept finding me. Through loss, through reinvention, through the unraveling and rebuilding of who I thought I was, it became a reminder that we’re not the roles we play, the boxes we’re put in, or the things we leave behind. We’re the wind. We’re the sky. We are the highway. Now, after a lot of life lived, I’ve recorded my own version-one that carries the weight of everything that song came to mean to me.”
  • He continued, “Releasing it right before Chris Cornell’s birthday felt like the right way to honor a voice that’s meant so much to me. Through loss, growth, and letting go, it’s become something deeper-something quieter. It’s about surrender now. About identity. About what you carry, and what you leave behind. This isn’t just a cover-it’s a conversation between who I was then and who I am now. I hope it meets you wherever you are.”
