Dean Lewis Releases Deluxe Edition of “The Epilogue”
Australian singer-songwriter Dean Lewis released the deluxe edition of his third studio album “The Epilogue” on July 11, 2025.
The standard edition was released last October. It is his first album in two years since the 2022 album “The Hardest Love”.
The deluxe edition comprises 17 track, including 12 original songs, four new songs and a cover of American alt-rock band Goo Goo Dolls' “Iris”.
Produced by Dean Lewis, Tommy English, Colin Foote, Alex Borel, DNA, Edd Holloway, Nick Atkinson, Gregg Wattenberg, Pom Pom, and Jack Gray.
The original version of “Iris” was released by Goo Goo Dolls from their sixth studio album “Dizzy Up the Girl” in 1998. Also, the song was feared on the 1998 film “City of Angels” soundtrack.- Dean Lewis said of the deluxe edition, “I lost friends, and changed toxic relationships, I found my reason for doing all this (just make cool music I love) I gave all of myself to this album. I am so proud of the quality of the songs and insane response. I've felt so many extreme highs and lows with this album, from selling out arenas around the world to not having a 'hit' on the album like I'd had in the past. From feeling like a great songwriter, to not knowing if I still have it in me to write great songs like I used too. I feel so inspired again though. The future seems so free and all things are possible. The weight on my back feels lighter and the path forward feels clear. I know what direction I'm moving in.”

Dean Lewis explained 5 songs of the deluxe edition.
“With You”
“I wrote the song the feeling of being in love with someone alone, she had completely moved on. It was supposed to be the lead single on my album, but when I heard Rihanna wanted to put the song on hold and release it as a single herself, I immediately said yes because it would have been a life changing moment for me in so many ways! One of the biggest artists releasing a song of mine I was sad about it too because i knew it was the best song I'd written for my album, and now it wasn't going to be on it.
Then a few months ago all of a sudden I got the song back! I was so excited because even though I'd lost this incredible opportunity, I knew that there was some magic in this song, you can FEEL the real emotion as I sing the chorus's and it was mine to release again. The song was really difficult to get right, technically we had a few issues because I sung it so loud on a fragile microphone, we had to work some magic to fix the vocal takes as I didn't want to re-do them ... I knew I could never re do them how I did on that first day it came to life!!
I'm really proud of this song and hope it connects with you guys. I haven't had a response like this since I released memories, there's been so many creates and you guys are so excited for this one.”
“I Hate That It's True”
“Usually when I write a song It takes about a year before it can come out. I wrote 'I hate that it's true' about 10 weeks ago at an airbnb in bondi beach. The day I wrote it me and the lads spent the next 48 hours finishing the production, rushing it over to my team and adding it onto my deluxe album (more soon). I couldn't let a song this good take a year or possibly more to come out. I wrote it about being in love with this girl who ripped my heart out, but I wasn't mad about it.
I sing 'but I'm glad it was you' in the chorus; it was amazing that she made me feel so much even though it didn't last. The lyrics for the song are weird and I liked that, it felt real and different and I got goosebumps listening back to the chorus. It also hints at what is to come on my next album; in the sense of where I'm headed with my songwriting and the more acoustic raw production. I hope you guys love it.”
“Truth”
“I wrote it about being betrayed by someone I loved. I tried to capture that feeling with the lyric 'my darling what have you done'. Finding out for the first time. For the artwork we went back to the exact same cabin where we took the photo for waves. This song I consider the sister song to waves, because it has the same feeling and world, so many people have said over the years that waves helped them. When I wrote truth I called it 'waves junior' before officially calling it truth. I hope you guys love it. It's one of my favorite songs I've written.”
“Hurt So Bad”
“I wrote this about giving 100% of yourself to someone and then watching it all disappear in an instant. I call this the final chapter in the be alright trilogy because it's got a certain sound that I feel really proud to have created that feels like ME. A deep story. Not rapping but spoken word into an emotional chorus, I love describing these scenes as if they are happening while you're listening. I saw a great quote by Ryan Tedder which said “don't try to boil the ocean” and I loved that. I love writing songs that sound like me and no one else.”
“Iris”
“Spent 2 years making the album and just 3 minutes making a bonus track cover of Iris, not thinking much about it. Now hundreds of thousands of you are listening every day. I don't know what it is about this version, maybe I caught alittle magic by not overthinking it, either way thank you for listening.”
