Daya Releases New Song “Demise”
American singer-songwriter Daya released a new song “Demise” on June 27, 2025.
The song is the follow-up to “Infrared”, which was released back in May for the first time in almost a year.
It was written by Grace Tandon, Sandro Cavazza, Robins Stjernberg, who also produced the track.
The accompanying music video was directed by Hannah De Vries, as with her previous music video for “Infrared”.
Daya told Ones To Watch about the song in an interview, “This song touches on that self-sabotaging kind of obsession-when a crush becomes so all-encompassing that you genuinely start to lose yourself a bit. In the end, most things are just a reflection of the narratives you tell yourself anyway.”- She continued, “At the time of writing (late 2023), it also felt like a real stretch out of my comfort zone, since it was so different from the kinds of songs I was making then. I wasn't sure where it would fit for a while, but over time I kept coming back to it, and now it feels like the parts I was second-guessing are the same ones that made me really come to love it.”
She added, “Robin Stjernberg produced the song and came up with the instrumental hook that set the tone for everything else. I have family roots in India, and I immediately loved how it echoed certain traditional melodies there. It also stood out to me as something that would translate really well live. Once we established that as the core, the rest of the song basically wrote itself.” -
