  • The Spins Releases New Song “Break It Off”

  • American indie rock band The Spins, consisting of Nick Coombs (rhythm guitar/vocals), Freddy Smith (drums), Jimmy Barr (lead guitar), and Phil Dunphy (bass), will release their upcoming third studio album “Left Behind” on July 25, 2025.

From the album, the band released a new song “Break It Off” on July 11, 2025.
The song is the fourth and final pre-release single. The track is a deeply emotional and reflective anthem that sets a poignant tone for the full record.
It was written by Frederick Smith, James Barr, Nicholas Coombs, and Philip Dunphy. Produced by Ayad Al Adhamy.
The accompanying music video was directed by Luke Talmadge and Freddy Smith.

“This song has ironically become one of our favorites we've written, even though it almost never came to be,” The band said of the song. “It was the final song we finished for the record, with it really not being fully finished until in the studio. We had written just that first verse and chorus of the track years ago, but were never able to turn it into a full song. When we showed our producer Ayad the demos for the new record, he was insistent this one was a stand out and had to be finished. We struggled with turning it into the full and beautiful song we felt it could be and went back and forth on whether it would make the cut this time around, but with his guidance and push to see it through, we finally did.”
  • They continued, “And we are so incredibly glad we did. In our opinion, it came out as one of the most beautiful songs we've written. It really just encapsulates that feeling of looking back on both life's memories and regrets, with a bittersweet nostalgia. It hits a deep emotional place for us, and we hope it does the same for the listeners.”

They shared on social media, “This is the sentimental one from the record. It was the last one we finished on the record and probably the one that took the most work to finish writing. Almost didn't even make the record, but Ayad Al Adhamy insisting it was his favorite and really pushed us and we're so glad he did because it came out so beautiful”

  • The new album comprises 8 tracks, produced by Ayad Al Adhamy. It is their first album in four years since the 2021 album “Not If, But When”

The band said of the album, Beyond excited to share this one. It's been in the works for a while now and we feel that it's by far our best work to date. Huge shoutout to Ayad Al Adhamy for pushing us on these songs and helping take them to the next level, and big thank you to everyone who's helped along the way.
