JP Saxe Releases New Album “Make Yourself At Home”
Los Angeles-based Canadian singer-songwriter JP Saxe released a new mini album “Make Yourself At Home” on June 27, 2025 via Arista Records.
It is the second installment of the two-part album, following the first installment “Articulate Excuses” released back in. April.
The album comprises 7 tracks, including a cover of the R.E.M. classic “Losing My Religion”, and features a guest appearance from Argentine singer-songwriter TINI.
The record explores universal emotions and experiences, while diving into themes of belonging.
JP Saxe said of the album, “This album is about how sometimes I find home by leaving it. It’s about learning new languages to love in. It’s about wondering if what I want is really what I want, or just what I haven’t had. It’s about learning to tell the difference between running to something or from something. It’s about rejecting the dopamine hit of certainty. It’s about being proud of who I haven’t become.”- He shared, “The world of 'Make Yourself At Home' is a orangy/teal world where sensitivity is strength and everyone wants to be a great listener but is also filled with internal rage that we let out by crying together in small groups of chosen family. We want love but we over complicate it (but still trying) and we want to speak other languages and to live under non-fascist governments and we wear second hand clothes. We’re either silent or oversharing, with very little in between. We believe in showing up for eachother even though we feel shame for not doing it enough. We don’t believe 'illegal' or ‘alien’ are terms that ever apply to people. We love art but rarely art galleries. We always want more friends but don't talk to the friends we have enough. We’ve experienced pain and grief and loss but remind ourselves, problematically often, that other people have experienced way more. Our internal dialogue is more cynical than we ourselves want to be. We want to be like ted lasso, curious not judgemental. We’re tortured idealists. we love creativity and communication and community. We hate cliche’s but still believe them sometimes. people are our favorite thing. Also our least favorite thing.”

JP Saxe explained some tracks for the album.
“HAVEN'T SAID ENOUGH”
“I had these verses for months. I wanted them to feel devastatingly committed to remaining moved in the face of phone screen imagery that slow drip kills your willingness to feel like a human, but I couldn’t get that feeling right, and then one day in the studio I started singing R.E.M.’s ‘Losing My Religion’ along with my verses, and it was perfect. I asked them if I could use it, and to my immensely grateful surprise, they said yes. So, here’s my interpolation of one of my favorite songs of all time, at a time when remaining a big feeling person committed to compassion is getting increasingly complicated.”
“STRANGERS” featuring TINI
“The easiest songs to write are the conversations you wish you could have, but can't, so they become songs instead. This is one of those songs. a song that's longing for an impossible simplicity where love is enough and nothing can get in the way. My favorite thing about this record is that I get to share it with TINI. The biggest chills I got in 2024 were from the first time I heard her sing her verse. I’ve been her fan for years. This is a dream collaboration for me - and heartbreak hits harder with two languages to miss someone with.” - source : Apple Music
