Blood Orange Announces New Album “Essex Honey”, Shares Two New Songs “Mind Loaded” featuring Caroline Polachek, Lorde & Mustafa and “Somewhere in Between”
New York-based British singer-songwriter Blood Orange has announced his new album “Essex Honey” will be released on August 29, 2025 via RCA Records.
It marks his first project in six years since the 2019 mixtape “Angel's Pulse”.
The album comprises 14 tracks, featuring guest appearances from Lorde, Caroline Polachek, Daniel Caesar, Mustafa, Turnstile frontman Brendan Yates, Tariq Al-Sabir, Ian Isiah, Tirzah, Eva Tolkin, Kelly Zutrau, Liam Benzvi, Amandla Stenberg, Naomi Scott, and Zadie Smith. Produced by Devonté Hynes.
According to a press release, “Essex Honey” is an album tinted with grief and loss, working towards acceptance and resolution, at a time when the culture is collectively feeling grief and loss, collectively trying to work towards resolution and acceptance.
From the album, he has released two songs “Mind Loaded” snd “Somewhere in Between”.
“Mind Loaded” features American singer-songwriter Caroline Polachek, New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde and Canadian singer-songwriter Mustafa.
It was written by Caroline Polachek, Devonté Hynes, Ella Yelich O'Connor, and Mustafa Ahmed. Both songs were produced by Devonté Hynes.- Blood Orange said of the album, “The silence that followed was horrible. I remember being at home a few months after, listening to Sufjan's 'Fourth of July' on my laptop. I remembered of how comforting music can be. The loss I had suffered combined with this feeling took me back to a beginning you hear music you like, you're comforted by it, then you try to copy it. At least that's how I learnt. I think I listen to more music now than I ever did. So now, after some time away. I have an album ready. It talks about grief, England, youth, and music. I features contributions from Cæcilie Trier, Caroline Polachek, Tizzy, Mabe Fratti, Mustafa, Brendan Yates, Lorde, Eva Yokin, Ian Irish, Lim Benz, Tariq Al-Sabir, Zadie Smith, Charlotte Dos Santos, Daniel Caesar, The Durutti Column & more.
