Kalie Shorr Releases New Song “My Type”
Los Angeles-based alt-pop singer-songwriter Kalie Shorr will release her upcoming EP “My Type” on July 11, 2025.
From the EP, she released the title track “My Type” on May 30, 2025.
The song is the follow-up to “Unkiss”, which was released back in January.
The track is her first original release to openly embrace her queerness, a fiery, confessional anthem that explores the thrill and fallout of chasing emotionally unavailable partners.
Originally, she wrote the song in 2017, but e track was shelved after she was pressured to remain closeted and change the lyrics.
After relocating to Los Angeles and coming out publicly, she reclaimed the song, restoring its original pronouns.
It was written by Kalie Shorr, and Samuel Gerhart, who also produced the track.- Kalie Shorr said of the song, “This song is an anthem for anyone who is drawn to people who are a little toxic for them. All of the girls and guys I’ve dated have something in common, and it’s that streak of individuality that is both their biggest strength and their biggest weakness. This is the title track for the EP because all of these songs are the consequences of me continuing to chase 'My Type'.”
She continued, “It’s also just one isolated layer of the whole album, which covers everything from mental health to leaving the evangelical church, but I thought starting on a (somewhat) lighter note would be a good way to lead into a bigger project that fully tells my story.” -
The new EP comprises 6 tracks, produced by John Samuel Gerhart and Kalie Shorr.
Recorded across Nashville and Los Angeles, as well as several all-nighters by Kalie Shorr herself in her bedroom, the EP captures her evolution from country breakout to alt-pop disruptor.
For the first time, she takes a hands-on role in production, credited as a producer and engineer on three of the six tracks, and plays ten different instruments throughout.
In addition to production by John Samuel, Nydge, Stacy Jones, Scott Thomas Robinson, wilson, Robbie Lamond, Katie MAC and David 'Messy' Mescon. - source : Apple Music
