Caity Baser Releases New Song “The Story Of Her”
Brighton-based singer-songwriter Caity Baser released a new song “The Story Of Her” on June 27, 2025.
The song was released ahead of the 2025 BST Hyde Park Festival in London, where she appeared alongside American singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo.
The song is the third single of 2025, following “Running From Myself” and “Watch That Girl (She's Gonna Say It)”.
It is about her strained relationship with her mother.
The track was written by Anthony Vander West, Caity Baser, and Josephine Vander West, whoc also produced to.
As with the previous song, the song features Simon Dobson and The Parallax Orchestra.
Caity Baser said of the song, “It's about the deep rooted trauma passed on through generations down to the next, mine from my mother who never showed empathy or compassion which lead me to not deal with anything no matter how big or small living me with baggage that I now want to tackle.”- She continued, “I feel like I'm on a journey always, like we all are. Previously I've always made songs about boys and how I hate them and how they're all stupid. But I've recently fallen in love, and I feel like it would be a lie if I kept making songs about how I hate men.”
She added, “I thought I needed to really dive deep into other things that upset me, and some of those topics are really personal, like my family and things that have happened to me in my past. So it's the first time I've felt ready and comfortable enough to touch on difficult things. But it's really exciting because it's a whole other side that no one knows yet, so it's really cool. Caity Baser said of 2025 BST Hyde Park with Olivia Rodrigo, “Oh my god! So I saw Olivia at the O2 last year, and she was amazing. And I've been following her forever, since 'Driver's License', and I think she's incredible. Then, I just got a message from my manager saying, 'Hey, this has just come through, do you want to do it?'
