Only The Poets Releases New Song “Emotionally Hungover”
British alt-pop band Only The Poets, consisting of Tommy Longhurst (vocals), Andy “Roo” Burge (bass), Clem Cherry (guitar) and Marcus Yates (drums), released their brand new song “Emotionally Hungover” on June 27, 2025.
The song is the third single of 2025, following “I Keep On Messing It Up” and “You Hate That I’m In Love”.
It was written by Janeva Burrill, Matt Radosevich, and Tom Longhurst. Produced by DanDlion, Clem Cherry, Matt Rad, and Marcus Yates.
The accompanying music video was directed by Chaimuki.
The band frontman Tommy Longhurst said of the song, “'Emotionally hungover' is about those days that your emotions weigh you down to the point that you feel exhausted and worn out. Those anxieties that sit with you and don't leave and have you in hold that you have to fight against to feel sane again. When I wrote this I was suppressing a lot of these thoughts and feelings and carrying it with me so writing it helped lift those feelings and facing them head on with this song felt like therapy to me. We hope you love it.”- He continued, “The song means quite a lot for me, because I was going through like a bit of a funny phase in at that point when I wrote it. And I was sort of like suppressing quite a lot of emotion and just having, I had a few weeks where I was just really feeling quite low and I was in the studio, and I wasn't really talking about it. And I was trying to like push it down. And I was like, the morning on the way into the studio, I remember quite clearly just writing down loads of feelings on my phone, which is what I do, I tend to do. And that's when sort of the best songs come, I think cause it's like, it feels the most real. And I remember just having 'Emotionally Hungover', just that title. It made perfect sense to me and I've never heard a song with a title like that. And I think like melodically as well like I'm, it's probably one of the proudest I've been of a song for a while. And I had like a real good feeling when it was finished, just maybe feel a lot which I think's really good, a really good.”
