SG Lewis Premieres New Song “Sugar” featuring Shygirl on BBC Radio 1
British DJ and singer-songwriter SG Lewis premiered a new song “Sugar” on BBC Radio 1's Dance Party with Danny Howard.
The song is the second single off of his upcoming third studio album “Anemoia”, which is set to be released on September 6, 2025.
On the track, he teamed up with London-based DJ and singer-songwriter Shygirl.
This marks their second collaboration, following “Mr Useless”, which was featured on Shygirl's 2024 EP “Club Shy”.
The track was written by Blane Muise, Orlando Higginbottom, and Samuel George Lewis. Produced by SG Lewis and TEED.
SG Lewis said of the song, “Channeling 2000's euro summer energy on this one. This is the second time we linked up on the tune together. And this song is our best odes to Y2K dance pop. It's been going down amazing my sets. I'm so excited for people to hear it.”- The new album comprises 10 tracks. It is his first album in two years since the 2023 album “AudioLust & HigherLove”.
SG Lewis said of the album, “When I discovered the word Anemoia, it articulated a feeling I’d struggled to describe for so long - a nostalgia for times I never lived through. Throughout my career, I’ve often referenced past eras of music, studying them inside out to understand their cultural and technical history. In doing so, I started to question my emotional connection to those times, and why they left such a mark on me.” -
He continued, “This album is rooted in the dancefloor, and even its quieter moments are shaped by Balearic sounds that are influenced from spending a lot of time in Ibiza last summer. I think a lot of the music carries an undertone of melancholy, even when it feels high in energy. More than anything, I want Anemoia to be a soundtrack to living in the present — to creating the kind of moments that others might one day feel nostalgic for.” - source : BBC Radio 1
