  • Sigrid Returns With New Song “Jellyfish”

  • Norwegian singer-songwriter Sigrid returned with a new song “Jellyfish” on July 11, 2025.

The song is her first solo music in two years since the 2023 EP “The Hype”.
She first performed the song during her secret gig in London on July 10, 2025.
She wrote the song with her best friend Askjell Solstrand in an attic studio in Oslo. Askjell Solstrand co-wrote “Dynamite”, which is featured on her 2019 debut album “Sucker Punch”.
Produced by Askjell Solstrand and Sigrid Solbakk Raabe. She was credited as producer for the first time. Sigrid said, “I've been co-producing my whole career. It's just this time I'm being credited for it. That's the difference.”

Sigrid told The Independent about the song, “Quite similar to how I always write. I was in Oslo, it was in a studio, an attic studio, in the summer two years ago, we wrote it before 'The Hype' was released. It was me and Askjel, who is one of my best friends, and who's been a collaborator of mine for years. But we were in this attic studio. It was summer, very like Scandinavian summer, the temperature is just perfect. It's not too hot, it's not too cold. It was very sunny that day, and we were playing at the piano. He had the acoustic guitar, and then we just started humming, singing, jamming. And I can't remember how the melody came out. I guess we were just humming together, and it just came and it immediately felt catchy and hooky and very sweet and quite vulnerable.”
  • She continued, “And I remember, for the title, we knew like, 'go on move', and then I couldn't come up with what it should be. And Askjel was like, 'Jellyfish.' I was like, 'What? You can't say that in a song?' He was like, 'Yeah, you can.' And then, I went with it. And it was really nice, very natural.”

She added, “And I think with 'Jellyfish', there's this new ease. I'm having fun again. I think you can hear it in the song. I'm not trying to sing perfectly.”

  • She said of working with Askjell Solstrand, “Working with someone like Askjell is one of the best things that has happened to me. We've always been working together. He's always been like an anchor for me throughout my whole career. We've done a lot. All of the acoustic versions on all records I've done has been with Askjell, and it's always felt very playful when we've worked together. It doesn't feel like work. It feels like two kids, or just two kids in a crowded room. That's me and Askjell. It's a very strong friendship.”
