The Marra Releases New Song “Falling Off”
Irish rock band The Marra, consisting of Shane MacGowan (rhythm guitar), Ryan Ward (vocals), Matthew Crossan (guitar), Luke McLaughlin (bass) and Conor Lynch (drums), released a new song “Falling Off” on July 15, 2025.
The song is the follow-up to “What She Does To Me”, which was released back in February.
It was written by Conor Lynch, Luke McLaughlin, Matthew Crossan, Ryan Ward, and Shane Anthony Ryan McGowan.
The band recorded the song at Blast Furnace Recording Studio in Londonderry. The track melds the jittery energy of '90s rock with the silky danger.
Also, the band is supported by British singer-songwriter Paul Weller. The band said, “Thanks to Paul Weller for taking a run up to the studio to make sure everything is sounding good.”
The band told NuMuze about the song, “Our new release is a tune called 'Falling Off, which is out today. It was recorded with Rory Donaghey at Blast Furnace Studio and will be the first song recorded by the 5 of us, so in a sense it almost feels like a debut single! It's something a bit different from us, so we don't want to give too much away, but we're really excited for people to hear it!”- The band said of their sound, “The ultimate aim for us as a band is to make timeless music. We want our music to inspire young people to pick up a guitar or an instrument and start their own band. Personally, I'll never forget the first time I heard The Strokes; it just hit me like a train and changed everything-that's what I want to give to people, that feeling of hearing your favourite band for the first time. In terms of sound, a lot of our tunes seem to embody different styles, whether that be 90s Brit-pop, jangle-pop, grunge, or even country. We don't want to pigeonhole ourselves in that sense, but I think what ties it all together and what makes it coherent is that all the songs sound like us.”

The band guitarist Shane MacGowan said of the band, “I truly believe there is something special brewing if we keep our heads down and put in the work. The boys (Matthew, Luke and Conor) bring a raw intensity that we didn’t have before. All the other lads inspire me to be a better musician and songwriter.”
Matthew Crossan added, “It’s surreal to have legends like Noel Gallagher and Paul Weller backing us. I think we’re just going to throw the kitchen sink at it - because talent is one thing, but you need a mindset, you need ambition. Us five lads have that.”
Paul Weller said, “Their songs are strong and melodic. They’re constantly writing and honing their music. I think The Marra are in a great line of new Irish artists.”
