Garrett Anthony Rice Releases New Song “In The Sun”
Irish singer-songwriter Garrett Anthony Rice released a new song “In The Sun” on July 18, 2025.
The song is the fourth single off of his upcoming double album “Equinox”, following “My Sons”, “PROPERTY (an ode to Roger Syd Barrett, a genius, 1946-infinity)”, and “Eden”.
The album is expected to be released in 2025.
The track is a riff-driven hard rock tune with a fresh edge. The main riff is tight and steady, grounded in grit and groove, with an undercurrent of motion that keeps the song in constant drive.
It was written by Garrett Anthony Rice and produced by Chris Potter.
Garrett Anthony Rice said of the song, “'In The Sun' was the first rock song I'd written in years - I'd actually started to think I was done with that part of my sound. But this one just kept creeping back into my mind. I couldn't stop humming it. I played it for a couple close friends, and they both said the same thing: 'you need to finish this.' I'm glad I listened.”- The new album was recorded throughout 2024 across studios in Ireland and the UK, and features 18 tracks carefully selected from more than 30 original demos.
It marks Rice's second full-length release, and his first under his own name, following the 2023 album “Reflections Part II, The Very Best of...........”, released under the alias (i) CONSULT.
He said of the album, “The record was born from a time in my life where everything was changing. There was grief, there was healing, there was uncertainty - but there was also this kind of hunger to not just document it, but really confront it in the writing. And I think each track reflects that in its own way.” -
He added, “This record has something to say in a musical landscape today where banality and formula dictates the preferences of the very children and young adults who should be asserting their individuality like my generation did in the 1980s and 1990s in Ireland when you defined yourself and your peer group along the lines of what bands (past and then present) you revered and lived your life to. This record tries to restore the balance between integrity and making listening to music meaningful again.”
