Kristen Ford Releases New Song “Whiplash”
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Kristen Ford released a new song “Whiplash” on June 26, 2025.
The song is the second single off of their upcoming sophomore album “Pinto”, which is set to be released on August 22, 2025 via Righteous Babe Records.
On the face of it, the track is a frustrated tale of doomed romantic relationships, but it is also an expression of the conditionality and broken promises that underpin the American dream that was proffered in their youth.
It was written by Kristen Ford and Matty Alger. Produced by John Driskell Hopkins and Kristen Ford.
The accmpaning music video was directed by J.P. Riley.
Kristen Ford said of the song, “How about being told if you play nice, go to college and get a degree, you get a career, a life, and a home only to be saddled with debt? Have those debts promised to be forgiven and then, whiplash, forget it. How about losing our rights to decide what we do with our own bodies? What's next, our marriages? Our ability to travel? The American dream of my 20s is leaving me with whiplash in my 30s.”- The new album comprises 12 tracks, on which Kristen Ford worked with American-Canadian singer-songwriter Ani DiFranco and Zac Brown Band's John Driskell Hopkins. It is their first album in four years since the 2021 album “War in the Living Room”.
It is an album that embodies Kristen Ford's belief. Kristen Ford said of the album, “The rulebook has been thrown out by the current administration, we can turn this disorder back on them and boldly create the world we want. It's time to be louder, be bigger, be brasher motherf*cker!” -
