Rhys Lewis Releases New Song “So Long Ago”
British singer-songwriter Rhys Lewis released his brand new song “So Long Ago” on June 27, 2025.
The song is the follow-up to the collaborative song Brother To Me with British singer-songwriter Zak Abel, which was released earlier this month.
As his solo music, it is the first release in two years since the 2023 debut album “Corner Of The Sky”.
The track was written by Marcus Foster, Rhys Lewis, and Steph Marziano. Produced by Rhys Lewis.
Rhys Lewis said of the song, “What inspired it, I guess it's a very personal experience I had in a relationship where I guess it was kind of acknowledging the fact that though we loved each other, the relationship had kind of run its course and we were just afraid of letting each other go. And I think the fear of letting someone or something go often keeps us in things longer than we should be in them for. So it's kind of that the pain of letting someone you love go, even though it's the right thing, and the kind of nostalgia and sentimentality attached to love, I suppose in relationships.”- He continued, “And in my head when I was producing it, I had this image of two people slow dancing for one final time as a sort of way of saying goodbye, looking each other in the eyes, and acknowledging the fact that it was finished and owning up to the the truth of it all. And I think there's something really sad but also really beautiful about that kind of situation where though it is sad, if it's the right thing, then it's also a positive in some way. So that kind of bittersweetness was in my head when I was producing it and the image of these two people dancing one last time before going separate ways was the kind of inspiration behind the sound of it and the feel of it.”

He added, “So I'm very excited for you to hear it. I've not released music in a long time. It's the first song I've released in maybe two and a bit years, and there's loads more songs coming, and it starts with this one. So thanks for being patient, thanks for your support, and I can't wait for you to hear all this new music.”
