Ed Sheeran Releases New Song “Drive” from New Film “F1: The Movie” Soundtrack
British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran released a new song “Drive” on June 20, 2025.
The song is featured on the upcoming film “F1: The Movie” soundtrack.
The track features John Mayer on guitar, Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl on drums, Pino Palladino on bass, Rami Jaffee on keyboards, and Blake Slatkin on additional keyboards and drum programming
It was written by Ed Sheeran, Blake Slatkin, and John Mayer. Produced by Blake Slatkin, and John Mayer.
Ed Sheeran previously said, “the song fell out of us” after he watched the film and the song came together quickly in the studio with John Mayer and Blake Slatkin. John Mayer added, “just whacked an octave pedal on and went wild.”
Ed Sheeran said, “Movies are my hobby and probably the only thing other than sport that I get, like, starstruck to be part of. Not just directors or actors or whatever, but being a part of the journey of a movie is so exciting for me.”- The film “F1: The Movie was directed by Joseph Kosinski, starring Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, and Javier Bardem.
The film follows that former F1 driver Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), who retired from F1 after a horrible crash, returned to F1 with his teammate rookie Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris).
The film is scheduled to be released on June 25, 2025.
Director Joseph Kosinski said of the film, “Lewis (World Champion F1 driver Lewis Hamilton) was instrumental in not only the technical aspects obviously, but in the real kind of formulative stage of the movie, formulating this narrative. We tell the story of Sonny Hayes, who's kind of a veteran racer, and then Joshua Pearce, who's a rookie. Lewis has been both. He's been the rookie almost winning his first season in Formula One and now with Seven World Championships. He's kind of seen it all. So his perspective on shaping the narrative of these two characters and kind of giving me real insight into what it is that drives him, what makes these guys want to do this day in day out, it was really, really helpful. We couldn't have made this film without him.” - The soundtrack features, Tate McRae, Burna Boy, Chris Stapleton, Darkoo, Dom Dolla, Don Toliver, Ed Sheeran, Madison Beer, Mr Eazi, Myke Towers, Obongjayar, PAWSA, Peggy Gou, RAYE, Roddy Ricch, ROSÉ, Sexyy Red, and Tiësto.
The album is set to be released on June 27. 2025.
