  • Muse Premieres New Song “Unravelling” on BBC Radio 1

  • British rock band Muse, consisting of Matt Bellamy (vocals/guitar), Chris Wolstenholme (bass), and Dominic Howard (drums), is back. The band premiered a new song “Unravelling” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

The song is the first music in three years since the 2022 album “Will Of The People”.
On the track, the band worked with a producer Dan Lancaster, who also mixed their last album.
The song will appear on their upcoming tenth studio album.

The band lead singer Matt Bellamy told Jack Saunders about the song, “This song is my first time ever using an eight string guitar. It's amazing. It's like having a bass guitar and a guitar at the same time all in one thing. It's a crazy instrument. I'm not sure when it first came about, last couple of decades. It's really kind of like, appeared in, like, the metal world. And obviously, Muse is not a metal band, but literally, I got the guitar and the first thing I wrote was 'Unravelling'. It just came straight out of boom. And so sometimes, a new instrument is enough to inspire something.”
  • He continued, “We're planning to make a new record. We were like, let's do a heavy track for the show. I mean so I kind of when I started ripping it out, I got an idea. I think maybe we should just record this and get it done. It could be the first song towards our new kind of album, sort of cycle, we're gonna call it. And it was recorded in mind to sort of play live at these shows, which are all pretty much hard rock shows that they're doing around Europe.”

He added, “I mean, this guitar is really cool. I'm hoping to write a few more tunes with it as well. I mean, I think the next album will definitely have some heavier stuff on it, but, I mean, our album's always clearly diverse, so we'll see how it goes, but, but at the moment, I'm quite digging this heavy vibe here.”

  • Matt Bellamy said of working with Dan Lancaster, “Dan's been a friend of ours, and actually been playing with us live for about six years or so. He mixed a couple tunes on our last album, and he did a great job. And we've always known he's a great producer, so this is our first time really bringing him in as a producer, and it's really nice, kind of, having somebody who's kind of in the band and part of the live show, producing the new songs as well, because I think he's got a really good insight of what the crowd's into and all that kind of stuff.”
