The Thing Releases Two New Songs “Holy Water” & “Alive (The Sword)”
New York-based rock band The Thing, consisting of Zane Acord (vocals/bass), Jack Bradley (guitar/vocals), Michael Carter (guitar/vocals) and Lucas Ebeling (drums), released two songs “Holy Water” and “Alive (The Sword)” on June 4, 2025.
Two songs are the fourth double-single from their upcoming self-titled third album, which is set to be released on August 6, 2025.
The album has been unveiled in thematic pairs of A/B-sides over the past few months.
Both songs were written by Jack Bradley, Lucas Ebeling, Michael Carter, and Zane Acord. Produced by Jack Bradley and Joshua Pleeter.
The band drummer Lucas Ebeling said of “Holy Water”, “It came out really organically, all of us just playing and having the first part completely die out and then kick back in with the same chords and same song, but just with the different inflection.”
Guitarist Jack Bradley said of “Alive (The Sword)”, “having patience and becoming the person that you know you should be - and having faith. There's no need to jump the gun, which is something that I struggle with.”- The new album comprises 12 tracks, recorded entirely analog, self-produced, and tracked live to tape without the use of a computer.
Jack Bradley said of the album, “We've kind of adapted the ethos of: with restriction comes creativity - old becomes new. And throughout every part of the process that remains true,”
Bassist Zane Acord added, “It showcases all of us, all of our different personalities. In The Thing, we're a collective band. We hang our hats on being a true band - where we all have the spotlight. I think that gives us a different edge.” -
