Kristen Ford Announces New Album “Pinto”, Shares New Song “Wild Heart”
Los Angeles-based queer singer-songwriter Kristen Ford has announced their upcoming sophomore album “Pinto” will be released on August 22, 2025 via Righteous Babe Records.
It is their first album in four years since the 2021 album “War in the Living Room”.
From the album, Kristen Ford released a new song “Wild Heart” on June 5, 2025.
The song was written in the immediate aftermath of the governor of Tennessee signing the state's “drag ban”.
A piece of legislation that aimed to effectively outlaw drag performances in front of minors.
For Kristen Ford, the bill was an unconscionable kick in the gut aimed squarely at the “beautiful queer culture” they had found in Music City.
Kristen Ford said, “I stand with my trans family and I feel an anger within me which is uncontained and unpredictable. Give me a sword to slay these dragons, to protect them and fight against hatred and lies”.
The track was written by Ani DiFranco and Kristen Ford. Produced by John Driskell Hopkins and Kristen Ford. The accompanying music video was directed by Joey J. Haley, featuring their friends including trans artist and activist Ryan Cassata.- The new album comprises 12 tracks, on which Kristen Ford recorded with producers Ani DiFranco and John Driskell Hopkins across Nashville, New Orleans, and Atlanta.
Kristen Ford said of the album, “This album has been a labor of love, with co-writing, arrangements and pre production beginning back in 2023, this album has involved over 16 individuals, men, women, genderqueer folks, with production taking place in studios from Nashville to New Orleans to Atlanta. I began culling through many years and over 1,000 voice memos, writing some new songs and continuing to create individually or collectively, working over 2 years to craft these 12 songs.”
They added, “The rulebook has been thrown out by the current administration, we can turn this disorder back on them and boldly create the world we want. It's time to be louder, be bigger, be brasher motherf*cker!” -
