Sarah McLachlan Announces New Album “Better Broken”, Shares Title Track
Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan has announced her tenth studio album “Better Broken” will be released on September 19, 2025.
It marks her first original album in eleven years since the 2014 album “Shine On”, other than a Christmas album.
The album comprises 11 tracks, featuring a guest appearance from American singer-songwriter Katie Gavin of the pop band MUNA. Produced by Tony Berg and Will Maclellan.
She recorded the album at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles, with contributions from esteemed musicians like guitarist Wendy Melvoin, drummer Matt Chamberlain, multi-instrumentalist Benny Bock, and pedal-steel guitarist Greg Leisz.
From the album, she released the title track “Better Broken” on June 26, 2025.
The song is accompanied by the Lauren Wade-directed music video.
It was written by Benjamin Bock, Matthew David Morris, and Sarah McLachlan. Produced by Tony Berg and Will Maclellan.
The track captures a soul-searching reflection on the fortitude that comes from weathering life’s constant storms.- Sarah McLachlan said of the album, “A lot of the lyrics on this record came from thinking about the world right now and asking, ‘How do we move through this landscape? How do we keep our heads above water when it feels like so much is falling apart?’ I don’t know if I have any answers, but channeling all that angst and uncertainty into the music has been so cathartic. I hope that this record provides people with some relief and release-but in the end I just want them to take whatever they need from it, and make the songs part of their own story.”
