Joybomb Returns With New Song “I, Paparazzi”
Memphis-based alt-rock band Joybomb, consisting of Grant Beatty (vocals/guitar), Luki Luvsik (guitar), Conner Booth (bass), and Xander Sinclair (drums), returned with a new song “I, Paparazzi” on June 25, 2025.
The song is their first music since the 2024 EP “Modern Scripture”, which was released last August.
The track explores themes of brain rot and the drug-like intoxication of social media.
It was written by Alexander Sinclair, Luki Healy, Preston Beatty, and William Conner Booth.
The band frontman Grant Beatty said of the song, “'I, Paparazzi' is about social media, self-surveillance, the degree to which we exploit ourselves and finely tailor and present real human experiences and desires to feed to curated audiences for our own dopamine, social gratification, and sense of purpose or aggrandizement. How through constant screen stimuli we chase feelings, much like drug use, and the feeling is both fleeting and ever-receding.”- He continued, “We pose for the camera, go live, craft ourselves, and to our audiences, that's more real than who we are when the phone's in the other room. We engage with the Other, the followed, the verified. We lurk, we rage scroll, we comment and delete and over-share. We encounter individuals and groups on an augmented plane of socialization that is counterfeit - a 21st century social currency that is truly a remarkable artifice.”
