Lewis Capaldi Returns With New Song “Survive”
Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi returned with a new song “Survive” on June 27, 2025.
This marks his first release in two years, since he announced a break for the foreseeable future to focus on his mental and physical health.
Back in 2023, he suffered uncontrollable convulsions while performing at Glastonbury 2023. He was later diagnosed with Tourette's syndrome.
At that time, he said, “I used to be able to enjoy every second of shows like this and I'd hoped three weeks away would sort me out. But the truth is I'm still learning to adjust to the impact of my Tourette's.”
He also released the song after a series of low-pressure performances as a guest of Tom Walker's charity, Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), across Scotland in May 2025.
Tom Walker said, “I know how much pressure this industry can put on artists at times, especially after a bit of a break. So for him to be able to play a little secret gig in a safe space without all the phones, the noise and the expectations was perfect.”- The song is an empowering, emotional ballad that addresses his mental health struggles in the wake of his battle with Tourette's syndrome.
It was written by Lewis Capaldi and Sam Roman. Produced by Peter Fenn, RØMANS, Andrew Wells, Connor McDonough, and Riley McDonough.
The accompanying music video was directed by Hector Dockrill.
He sings, “Most nights I fear that I'm not enough, I've had my share of Monday mornings when I can't get up. I swear to God I'll survive, if it kills me to, I'm gonna' get up and try, if it's the last thing I'll do.” -
