Amy Macdonald Premieres New Song “Can You Hear Me?” on BBC Radio 2
Scottish singer-songwriter Amy Macdonald premiered a new song “Can You Hear Me?” on BBC Radio 2 The Scott Mills Breakfast Show.
The song is the third single off of her upcoming sixth studio album “Is This What You've Been Waiting For?”, which is set to be released on July 11, 2025.
The album is her first LP in five years and comprises 10 tracks, produced by Nicolas Rebscher, Jim Abbiss, James Arter, Adam Falkner, and Matt Jones.
The track was written by Amy Macdonald and Matt Jones. Produced by Nicolas Rebscher.
Amy Macdonald said of the song, “I was playing TRNSMT Festival in Glasgow, and I found myself looking out at the audience, thinking, oh my gosh, these are all kids! They weren't even born when I started making music, they’re not going to know me at all. This is going to be awful. And we went out and we played this full set, and it was one of the most amazing gigs that I'd done in my life.”- She continued, “Seeing this younger generation, the ones that had just been fucked over totally by COVID, the government... But they were so happy and loving life. And I thought, you know what? We're actually in good hands. Like, what a great flipping group, what amazing positivity. It was one of those weird moments where you get on stage and it really feels like, ‘Oh, this is why I do this.’ So ‘Can You Hear Me?’ was kind of a call to arms for the younger generations.”
