The Barr Brothers Announces New Album “Let it Hiss”, Shares Title Track
Montreal-based folk-rock band The Barr Brothers, consisting of Andrew Barr (drums/vocals) and Brad Barr (guitar/vocals), has announced their upcoming fourth studio album “Let it Hiss” will be released on October 17, 2025 via Secret City Records.
It marks their first album in eight years since the 2017 album “Queens of the Breakers”.
From the album, the band released the title track “Let it Hiss” on June 11, 2025.
The track features La Force and Talia Boguski on vocals.
The song was inspired by upon hearing a light buzzing in the guitar monitor during playback when the band recorded the album.
It was written by Philip Bradford Barr and produced by The Barr Brothers.
The band said of the song, “It was born out of an off-the-floor duo jam that we arbitrarily recorded...sounds flying everywhere. Ariel Engle (aka La Force) and Talia Boguski sing some absolutely stellar support vocals. To the keen observer, you'll surely pick up on our love for Prince, AC/DC, David Bowie and Funkadelic. But most of all, we hope you find something as fresh and fun in the Hiss as we do.”- The new album comprises 10 tracks, featuring guest appearances from Land of Talk, Klô Pelgag, La Force, Jim James and Arc Iris, produced by Andrew Barr and Brad Barr.
Brad Barr said of the album, “In 2022, we found ourselves at a breaking point. It was clear something had to change. The real story of this record is the story of that change and everything that came after.”
Andrew Barr said, “Let it Hiss is what happened when we stopped pretending everything was fine and finally listened to what was actually going on.” -
They added, “It's hard to find words to express what this new record means to us, and how eager and ecstatic we are to share it with you! For now, let us just say that this has been one of the most rewarding experiences of our career. We know it's been a while since our last album, but we promise...it's worth the wait! We've never made a record quite like this one. We had some amazing friends help us get the job done. We'll tell you about all of them soon. Recorded and produced by the two of us, mixed by the great Jon Low, with cover art by the ever-inventive Brigitte Henry, this is the record we've been wanting to make for a long time.”
