  • meg elsier Announces Deluxe Edition of Debut Album “spittake”, Shares New Song “sportscar [scrapped]”

  • Nashville-based indie-rock singer-songwriter meg elsier has announced her upcoming deluxe edition of the debut album “spittake” on July 25, 2025 via Bright Antenna Records.

The deluxe edition comprises 17 track, including the original 11 songs, raw live recordings, unreleased demos, and intimate B-sides that peel back the curtain on her emotional and creative process.
From the deluxe edition, she released the first single called “sportscar [scrapped]” on June 18, 2025.
meg elsier recorded the track with her longtime collaborator and producer Jacq Justice.
Together, they reimagined what a “live” performance could be, building a stylized world that blends stagecraft with raw energy.
The accompanying live video was directed by Jacq Justice.

meg elsier said of the song, “'sportscar' is a really interesting addition to the deluxe, specifically because 'spittake' almost had a completely different identity. There was a time when I was playing with the idea of naming the album Check Engine Light On. The influence of cars and how they move you through life is something I didn't realize was so important to 'spittake' until after I'd written it.”
  • She continued, “I was really identifying with my beat-up car my mother gave me. It was this thing handed to me that I treated like shit... But that kinda was my life at the time. Something that was shiny and fast, a veneer; but if you checked under the hood, it was burning out. The oil was dark, and the engine was smoking. I would dye my hair (new paint job), get dolled up (took her to the car wash), and perform so well socially when I went out (that V8 engine purring, baby), but that was all it was. I had a coming-to moment like, 'This isn't sustainable and I'm about to crash out.'”

meg elsier said of the deluxe edition, “There's so much that went into this album that got filtered out or put on the shelf when we started finding the personality of it.- lots of things that I'm incredibly proud of. lots of things that are incredibly precious and intimate. A few things that I never thought would see the light of day.”

  • She continued, “This deluxe is a conscious decision to show vulnerability and the process. Idk why that was so important to me but it was. Or it is. To build a foundation of little vulnerable moments that were never meant to be seen by anyone specific. I think we're at the point where I can show you how my brain works, how much people can shift, and how important it was for me to put 100% of my self into a sound that did not make sense- to find ones that did.”

She added, “But liKeEeE that kinda makes sense. And to be honest I kinda just need to get my ass kicked again with anxiety and that feeling of urgency and fear and excitement and stomach cramps that come with a release. I gotta learn how to do this shit again.”
