Suede Premieres New Song “Trance State” on BBC Radio 2
British rock band Suede (The London Suede in the US), consisting of Brett Anderson (vocals), Mat Osman (bass), Simon Gilbert (drums), Richard Oakes (guitars) and Neil Codling (keyboards), premiered a new song “Trance State” on BBC Radio 2 with Jo Whiley.
The song is the second single off of their upcoming tenth studio album “Antidepressants”, following “Disintegrate” released last month.
The album is set to be released on September 5, 2025 via BMG. It marks their first album in three years since the 2022 album “Autofiction”.
The track was written by Brett Anderson, Neil Codling, and Richard Oakes. Produced by Ed Buller.
The band frontman Brett Anderson said of the song, “When you fall apart, there's such an honesty and a truth to that. You're revealing your real self. You're presenting yourself to the world completely unvarnished. You're not able to present a facade to the world anymore. It's just you.”- The new album comprises 11 tracks, on which the band recorded live with producer Ed Buller.
Brett Anderson said of the album, “If 'Autofiction' was our punk record, 'Antidepressants' is our post-punk record. It's about the tensions of modern life, the paranoia, the anxiety, the neurosis. We are all striving for connection in a disconnected world. This was the feel I wanted the songs to have. The album is called 'Antidepressants'. This is broken music for broken people. It is genuinely exciting being in this band. It feels like we're still pushing creatively.”
The band bassist Mat Osman added, “This is a widescreen and ambitious record. It's a big stage record and it's taking it up a gear.” -
