Hand Habits Announces New Album “Blue Reminder”, Shares New Song “Wheel of Change”
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and guitarist Meg Duffy's solo project Hand Habits has announced their upcoming fourth studio album “Blue Reminder” will be released on August 22, 2025 via Fat Possum.
As Hand Habits, it is their first album in four years the 2021 album “Fun House”.
As Meg Duffy, the album follows the 2023 collaborative album “Doubles” with Gregory Uhlmann.
From the album, they released a new song “Wheel of Change” on June 4, 2025.
The song is accompanied by the Otium-directed music video.
It was written and produced by Meg Duffy, with production by Joseph Lorge.
Meg Duffy said of the song, “Both lyrically and in its production, this song is about the impossibility of return—you can't go back to the way things were, no matter how much you might want to hold on to a time, or a feeling, or a person. Lyrically there's a kind of desperation ('I need it now more than ever'), but in it there's also a request, 'don't take it away just yet,' which is not a question but a demand, and I wanted the production to reflect that. That in longing, there can be this sharper, wild edge. Like, no I need this, give it to me, don't take it away.”- The new album comprises 12 tracks, on which Meg Duffy recorded with co-producer Joseph Lorge in Los Angeles.
The album features collaborators, including Alan Wyffels, Gregory Uhlmann, Olivia Kaplan, Blake Mills, Tim Carr, Daniel Aged, Joshua Johnson, and Anna Butterss.
“For this record I set out to no longer shapeshift when it came to the person I become in the face of love,” Meg Duffy said of the album. “I think it's so corny to write love songs. I can't deny that a lot of these are ostensibly love songs, but they are also love songs through my very specific kind of lens. It is about how falling in love does feel both terrifying and exciting, but this record is about commitment in a lot of ways. Committing to a person, to an idea, to being a more honest version of yourself.” -
Meg Duffy shared on social media, “Blue Reminder, my 4th album, is out August 22 on Fat Possum. It's my favorite thing I've ever made!! (with the help of many special people). Today I give you Wheel of Change-a new song plus a video by Otium. Had an absolute blast coming out of my chrysalis and making this video. Plus peep Jenn Wasner as sexy driver and hear her singing on that big chorus. It's a real ripper!!”
