  • Four Tet Premieres New Song “Into Dust (Still Falling)” on BBC Radio 1

  • British electronic music producer Four Tet premiered a new song “Into Dust (Still Falling)” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

The song samples American alt-rock band Mazzy Star's 1993 song “Into Dust”, which is featured on their second album “So Tonight That I Might See”.
It was written by David Roback and Hope Sandoval. Produced by Four Tet and David Roback.

Four Tet told Jack Saunders about the song, “I made this one like, kind of a year ago. I suppose, and it's made around a sample from an old record by Mazzy Star, which is a band I love and I still love. I love sampling records I like, just hearing a loop from a record that I really, really like, sort of put into a new context, new sort of world. And the original is very, very mellow. So wouldn't really expect to hear it in this context. But I think for me, that's why it's got a sort of that's the magic of it, to hear this very gentle, sort of vocal but then made into much more sort of banging, thick at the same time as well.”
  • He continued, “I like sampling. And I like when it's a bit disrespectful, sometimes when people take something and just pull it out of its world and put it in completely different context. I like the way it just suddenly puts it in a different world. And I like to sample things that I haven't heard been used in other places as well I haven't heard another light club track that samples Mazzy Star. So I was just looking for things to use, and I probably had it on in the car or something. I was like, 'Oh, well, that could fit.'”
