The 4th stop on WSL Championship Oi Rio Pro kicked off following Oi Rio Women's Pro on May 14, 2018.
Round 1 and the first half of Round 2 ran at Barrinha, where is backup spot a half-mile up from Saquarema, in four-to-six foot (1.2 – 1.8 metre).
This time, Kelly Slater (USA)-injured, Joel Parkinson (AUS) and Mick Fanning (AUS)-retired don't not participate in this event. Kelly Slater was injured and Mick Fanning was retired.
Also, Julian Wilson (AUS) and Italo Ferreira (BRA) wear yellow jersey, because both are currently tie with 13,330 points on the Jeep Leaderboard. Two competitors advanced directly to Round 3.
Reigning World Champion John John Florence (HAW) is sitting at 26 place, who slow starts CT than previously. And in Heat 4 of Round 1, he was defeated by Mikey Wright (AUS) again following Margaret River, even though he earned 9.10 points.
But John John Florence took down Deivid Silva (BRA) in Round 2 and advanced to Round 3.
Brazilian hero and 2014 World Champion Adriano de Souza was defeated in Round 1 and 2 by Griffin Colapinto (USA) and Ian Gouveia (BRA). He was leaving the home event early.
John John Florence said after his Round 2 win;
"Everyone keeps saying that I've had a super slow start, but I feel really good. I've only lost two events, and they canceled Margarets, so I am where I was at any other year. It's really fun out there, it's just hard sometimes to find the right one"
Mikey Wright said;
"This makes me want to keep going and getting results on the QS, and getting these spots as a replacement. I am trying to make the most out of these opportunities. To have Tyler [Wright, my sister] and Owen [Wright, my brother] both here as support is definitely good."- SiCX12_UeHY
