Mary Jennings Drops New Music Video for “Dreaming of Giants” from New Album “Matriarch”
- Back in June, Nashville-based singer-songwriter Mary Jennings released her seventh studio album “Matriarch”.
It is her first album in six years following the 2015 album “Metamorphosis”.
From the album, she has dropped a new music video for “Dreaming of Giants”.
The track was written by Mary Jennings. The video was animated by Friedanimation and edited by Whitney Wolanin.
Mary Jennings shared on social media, “Welcome to my dreams everyone! When you have a lot of anxiety, you often dream of giants. Thank you to Friedanimation and Whitney Wolanin for their brilliant work on this video! Enjoy!”
The album “Matriarch” comprises of 11-track with inspirations from her daughter, her home life, the pandemic, friends, and the 20 year anniversary of the loss of her mother.
Also it is a powerful and vulnerable album consisting of both poetical ballads and driving, pulsating tracks.
“When people ask me why I'm a musician, I tell them that it's largely because music is my therapy,” Mary Jennings said. “That entire notion really began with the death of my mom. My dad offered to help me record an album shortly after her death, and the experience of writing about what I was going through at the time went a long way towards helping me cope.”
She said as her 5 year old daughter Eliza has inspired so much of this album from the artwork (she painted the backdrop and Mary's face) to several of the songs.
