Colbie Caillat & Mitchell Tenpenny Team Up for New Version of “Realize”
American singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat joined forces with Nashville-based country pop singer-songwriter Mitchell Tenpenny to release a new version of “Realize” on May 23, 2025 via Blue Jean Baby Records.
This marks the second collaboration between Colbie Caillat and Mitchell Tenpenny, following “Guess We'll Never Know”, which is featured on Mitchell Tenpenny's 2024 album “The 3rd”.
The original version of the song was released as the second single from her debut album “Coco” in 2008.
The song will appear on her upcoming eighth studio album, which is expected to be released in 2025.
It was written by Colbie Caillat, Jason Reeves, and Mikal Blue. The new version was produced by Jimmy Robbins and Eric Arjes.
The accompanying music video was directed by Patrick Tracy.- Colbie Caillat said of the song, “This reimagined version of 'Realize' is my new favorite. It instantly pulls at my heart strings with the guitar intro, Mitchell's soulful voice, the steel guitar and our long outro of adlibs. Mitchell Tenpenny told PEOPLE, “I remember exactly where I was when I heard 'Realize' for the first time. It was 2008 and it was my senior year of high school. After a football game, some friends and I were driving to Auburn from Nashville. We literally had a CD mix tape that included the song. I absolutely loved it, and the whole record was incredible. I've been singing with Colbie in the car for many, many years.”
