Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Astrid S Releases New Song “Oh Emma”
Norwegian singer-songwriter Astrid S released the third single of 2024 called “Oh Emma” on April 5, 2024.
Also, the song will appear on her upcoming sophomore album “Joyride”, which is set to be released on May 24, 2024
The song reflects on how close relationships change over time and sometimes fade completely, which many can experience as part of growing up.
The track was written by Astrid Smeplass, Emily Falvey, JT Daly, and Sean Van Vleet.
JT Daly and Jack Schrepferman produced the song as with her previous song “First To Go”, which was released back in February.
Astrid S said of the song, “I've moved around a lot since I was 15, so I've had a lot of short friendships in my formative years, which have been difficult to maintain. Oh Emma is a song about growing apart. It happens to everyone - sometimes it just feels like people gradually disappear from your life without you noticing. One day you wake up and wonder what happened? It is nostalgic and reminiscent of the past. There are many changes you go through in life, but the ones that hurt the most are the ones you couldn't predict.”- She shared on social media, “My best friend Emma Jensen asked me to specify that this is not a song about her. emma's just a bit easier to rhyme with than certain other names:)”
The new album is her first body of work in four years since the 2020 debut album “Leave It Beautiful” and comprises a 9-track. -
