  • BANNERS Releases New Song “C'est La Vie”

  • Liverpool-based singer-songwriter Michael Nelson, aka BANNERS released a new song “C'est La Vie” on August 4, 2023.

The song is the fifth single since the 2023 EP “I Wish I Was Flawless, I'm Not”, following “Tell You I Love You”, “Name In Lights” and “Have You Ever Loved Someone”.
The track was written by Michael Nelson and Trent Dabbs. Produced by Cam Blackwood.
BANNERS said of the song, “I wrote this song with my friends Cam and Trent about 6 months ago in Nashville. We'd spent a couple of hours trying to write something. Just the usual going down a rabbit hole that wasn't really leading anywhere and trying not to panic about it. And then I went to the bathroom and thought of this melody and sang it to them when I got back and then we wrote this song. That can happen when you're trying to write a song. In fact getting absolutely nowhere happens nearly all the time. Every time it happens you start to worry that actually you're a terrible songwriter, that anything you've done before was a total fluke and you'll never write a good one again and how are you gonna pay your rent? But you keep going, find a bit of faith in yourself from somewhere, head down a few more rabbit holes and in the end you end up somewhere good. Or at least somewhere. Whether it's good or not isn't really up to me.”
  • The song is accompanied by a music video, in which he worked with his brother Joe.
He said of the video, “I've had this song stuck in my head since we wrote it. C'est La Vie is all that life throws at you. Being alright with it because you're doing it with people that you love. I'm thrilled that you all finally get to hear it. There's also a music video where my brother Joe ABSOLUTELY NAILS me with a bucket of water and then a load of paint goes right in my mouth. Give it a watch!”
