The A.M.s Covers Radiohead's “No Surprises”
American alt-folk duo The A.M.s, consisting of Adrian Libertini (vocals, guitar, bass) and Mariko Langan (piano, backing vocals), released a cover of British alt-rock band Radiohead's “No Surprises” on March 16, 2023.
The song is their first single since the 2022 debut album “Ignite the Sky”.
The original version of the song was released by Radiohead from their third studio album “OK Computer” in 1998.
It was written by Ed O’Brien, Colin Greenwood, Jonny Greenwood, Thom Yorke and Philip Selway.
The song reached No. 4 on the UK Singles chart.
“Despite being reasonably happy, silly people, we both like dark, sad music,” the duo said. “Maybe the more we explore the depths of our dark feelings, the more we appreciate the light. Or maybe we like feeling the ache of wistful sadness through music, or maybe it’s just a sublime song – but it’s probably all of the above.”
Recounting the process which saw both of them drawn to this track, they observe that “regardless, when ‘No Surprises’ came out we were both really taken by its melancholic beauty.”- Photo by Ulysses Curry
