Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds Announces New Album “Council Skies”, Shares New Song “Easy Now”
British rock band Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds announced their fourth studio album “Council Skies” would be released on June 2, 2023 via Sour Mash Records.
It is their first album in six years since the 2017 album “Who Built the Moon?”.
The album comprises 11-track and recorded at Noel's own Lone Star Sound Recording Studio in London.
Produced by Noel Gallagher and longtime collaborator Paul “Strangeboy” Stacey and features orchestration laid down at the famed Abbey Road Studios.
The album features performances from Johnny Marr on three tracks, including the recent single “Pretty Boy”.
“For this new record, it was the first thing I wrote, the first thing I demoed, and the first thing I finished, so it’s only right that it’s the first thing people get to hear,” Noel Gallagher previously said of “Pretty Boy.” “Massive shout out to my mainest man Johnny Marr for taking it somewhere special.”
- “It's going back to the beginning,” Noel Gallagher said of the album. “Daydreaming, looking up at the sky and wondering about what life could be… that's as true to me now as it was in the early '90s. When I was growing up in poverty and unemployment, music took me out of that. Top of the Pops on TV transformed your Thursday night into this fantasy world, and that's what I think music should be. I want my music to be elevating and transforming in some way.”
From the album, the band released the second single called “Easy Now” along with a music video on January 17, 2023.
The track was written by Noel Gallagher and produced by Paul Stacey.
The accompanying video was directed by Colin Solal Cardo, featuring Milly Alcock, who recently starred as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen on “House of the Dragon”.
