The Gospel Covers The Velvet Underground's “I Found A Reason”
Manchester-based cinematic synth and percussion band The Gospel, consisting of Jimmy Sweet, Danni McCormack, Charis Anderson, Heather Bell and Hazel Cotogno, released a cover of The Velvet Underground's “I Found A Reason” on December 9, 2022.
The song is their debut single. Produced by Rex Whitehall and Luke Stidworthy.
The original version of the song appeared on American rock band The Velvet Underground's fourth studio album “Loaded”, which was released in 1970.
The Gospel transform the 1970 cut with their own cinematic stylistics, adding sweeping string sections, glistening shoegaze-tinted synthesisers, and rich multi-layered vocal harmonies.
The band frontman Jimmy Sweet said of the song, “It’s a modern cinematic synth take on the classic Velvet Underground song.”- Photo by Brendan Cleaves
