James Blake Announces New Album “Friends That Break Your Heart”, Premieres New Song “Say What You Will” on BBC Radio 1
- British singer-songwriter James Blake announced his upcoming fifth studio album “Friends That Break Your Heart” would be released on September 10, 2021.
The album is his first LP in two years and comprises of 12-track, featuring guest appearances from SZA, JID, SwaVay and Monica Martin.
From the album, he unveiled the first single “Say What You Will” along with a music video on July 23, 2021.
The song received its first play during BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Annie Mac.
It was written by Josh Stadlen, Dominic Maker and James Blake.
The accompanying video features Billie Eilish's brother FINNEAS.
“The song is about finding peace with who you are and where you're at regardless of how well other people seem to be doing,” James Blake said of the song in a statement. “Comparison really is the thief of joy.”
He embarks on Friends That Break Your Heart Tour in support of his new album in the US. The tour kicks off at The Observatory North Park in San Diego on September 16, 2021 and will conclude at Tabernacle in Atlanta on October 15, 2021.
