- APHROSE Premieres New Song “Move On” on SoundCloud
- Toronto-based R&B singer Joanna Mohammed, aka APHROSE has released a new song "Move On" via SoundCloud. The song follows up a debut song "The Middle", which was released last June, produced by Scott McCannell.
She has already filmed a music video for it, directed by Michael Tobin, which is set to be premiered February 19th.
About the song, she wrote on SoundCloud;
"It is not your average love song about relationships between two people, but rather about the love a person finds when they realize their own self-worth. 'Move On' is that feeling you get when you finally become aware that you've had enough of barriers like hate and fear and you're not going to let those walls hold you back anymore."
She added about the video;
"The concept of having 20+ strong, brave, women of different ethnicities & backgrounds walk in solidarity, past the oppression, past the racism, past the hatred, past the bigotry, past the weight of the patriarchy and rise above it, was powerful. Hopefully Move On resonates with a lot of people.'
- APHROSE debuted with an EP "Joanna Mohammed" as Joanna Mohammed in 2009. After the EP released, she changed the stage name to APHROSE.
In 2017, she released "The Middle" and "New Eyes" (featuring Michelle Willis, Marla Walters & Heather Crawford) under the name APHROSE.
She is currently working on the EP, which will be later this year. Originally, the EP was supposed to release last September, but it's delay.
