  • Ólafur Arnalds & Talos Announce New Collaborative Album “A Dawning”, Share New Song “Signs”

  • Icelandic producer Ólafur Arnalds and the late Irish singer-songwriter Eoin French, aka Talos have announced their upcoming collaborative album “A Dawning” will be released on July 11, 2025.

From the album, they released a new song “Signs” on May 21, 2025.
The song is the second single off of the album, following “We Didn't Know We Were Ready” featuring Niamh Regan and Ye Vagabonds.
The track was written and produced by Ólafur Arnalds and Eoin French.

Ólafur Arnalds said of the song, “At its core, Signs feels like a coming together, a curious meeting of creative souls. It's filled with carefree experimentation and exploration. Signs was the first song that Eoin and I wrote together. It was only shortly after we became friends and we were rather decisively paired together by our friend Mary Hickson at her music residency in Cork - she seemed very sure that we would get along musically. She was right, of course. It was the start of an incredible, inspiring, heartbreaking but heartfelt journey that took us places we could never have imagined in our wildest dreams. So it feels appropriate that it comes out as we announce this album that became the fruit of that journey.”
  • The new album comprises 8 tracks, featuring guest appearances from Sandrayati, Alexi Murdoch, Niamh Regan and Ye Vagabonds.
Ólafur Arnalds and Talos began the album process when they were invited to Safe Harbour Festival at the Sounds in Cork in 2023, working in Arnalds' Reykjavík studio and later in Talos' home in West Cork.
But unfortunately, Talos died following a short illness in Cork, in August 2024, at the age of 36.
After Talos passed away, Ólafur Arnalds completed the album alone.

Ólafur Arnalds said of the album, “We made this album together. Even after, while I was there working on some arrangements, I never felt like I was truly alone. Near the end, where we were saying how grateful we were to have met each other, he told me, 'You know, I'm still gonna be there.'”
