Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Stela Cole released an end to her trilogy, called “Blood Orange Wine” on March 15, 2024.
The song is a story of a young woman caught in the never-ending cycle, following the first release “Die Hard”, and the second release “Midnight Killer”.
It was written by Elsa Curran, Hollyn Shadinger, and Mark Evans, who also produced the track.
The accompanying music video was directed by Maya Sassoon and Eliot Lee, who also directed the previous two videos in the trilogy.
“The song is about the adrenaline wearing off after being emotionally yanked around by a person I loved,” Stela Cole said of the song. “For months I was turning to vices to bury the pain and I soundtracked this period of my life with a lot of Fleetwood Mac and Electric Light Orchestra. I'm not surprised they ended up having a huge influence on how the record ended up sounding. It turns out that time is the only thing that truly heals, and honestly thank God for that.”- She added, “While 'Die Hard' and 'Midnight Killer' represent two pivotal moments in the never-ending cycle... I think it's time I let y'all see what led to the breaking point.”
