serpentwithfeet Announces New Album “Grip”, Premieres New Song “Damn Gloves” featuring Ty Dolla $ign & Yanga YaYa on BBC Radio 1
Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter serpentwithfeet has announced his third album “Grip” will be released on February 16, 2024.
It is his first album in three years since the 2021 album “Deacon”.
The album comprises 10-track, produced by Mike Irish, Nosaj Thing, S.Dot and serpentwithfeet.
serpentwithfeet said of the album in a press release, “I wanted to do something completely different than what I've done previously… Going out while working on the album and seeing how people stood at the bar when ordering a drink, are they on their phone trying to disappear from the scene? Are they flirting with the bartender? Are they writhing slowly to the music? What does it look like when a guy runs into his ex and that ex is with someone new? I'm curious about all of this.”
- From the album, he premiered a new song “Damn Gloves” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.
This time, he teamed up with American singer-songwriter Ty Dolla $ign and South Africa-based singer Yanga YaYa on the track.
The track was produced by serpentwithfeet, Nosaj Thing, I Like That, Mike Irish, and S. Dot.
serpentwithfeet told Clara Amfo about the song, “First of all, and we started working on a song a couple of years ago, and instantly, so I knew who I wanted to add on the song. It was a no brainer for me. There was just time. There was like a perfect opportunity to be, so.”
The accompanying music video was directed by Micaiah Carter.
serpentwithfeet said of the video, “The geniussss Micaiah Carter & I have been planning this collab for a whiiiiile !!! i've been telling folks that Black gay nightlife spaces have raised me a 2nd time. So this music video is an ode to all those wondrous moments in Miami, Atlanta, DC & NYC !!”
