Kim Petras Surprise Releases Scrapped Debut Album “Problématique”
Los Angeles-based German singer-songwriter Kim Petras surprise released her originally-scrapped, partially-leaked album “Problématique” on September 18, 2023.
Initially, the album was set to be her debut album, but was ultimately scrapped following a mass leak of its songs in 2022.
At the time, she welcomed fans to “listen to the leaks” since her new music was in limbo.
Kim Petras conceived the project during the COVID-19 lockdown.
The album comprises 10-track, produced by Aaron Joseph, Dr. Luke, and Vaughn Oliver.
Initially, the singles “Future Starts Now” and “Coconuts” were released in 2021 in support of the album. The former was ultimately scrapped from the final track list, while the latter was included on the debut album “Feed the Beast”.
“It was shocking when I found out part of the album leaked - at the time - that it wasn't ever going to come out, especially as I poured so much of myself into it,” Kim Petras said in a statement via the Associated Press. “I was heartbroken but, at the same time, it was really exciting to see my fans listening to the tracks and loving them.”- Photo by STEVEN KLEIN
