Lana Del Rey Releases New Album “Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd”
American singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey released her ninth studio album “Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd” on March 24, 2023 via Interscope and Polydor Records.
It is her first album in two years since the 2021 album “Blue Banisters”.
The album comprises 16-track, featuring guest appearances from Jon Batiste, Bleachers, Father John Misty, Tommy Genesis, SYML and RIOPY, and with production by Del Rey, Mike Hermosa, Jack Antonoff, Drew Erickson, Zach Dawes, and Benji.
The album title, the tunnel under Ocean Boulevard is a real place. The abandoned Jergins Tunnel is in Los Angeles' downtown Long Beach.
It was sealed off and closed to the public in the late 60s, but once upon a time it was a subway for holidaymakers to access the beach.
Lana Del Rey told Rolling Stone UK about the album title, “Would it be a worrisome concept to be boxed out and sealed up with all these beautiful things inside with no one able to gain access except maybe family? That was a question I had because that's a very plausible thing that could happen with the music, with how pointed people's perceptions of my music can be. Would it probably, plausibly, get to the point where it became a body of work that made me a vessel that was sequestered to the point where only family would have access to the metaphorical tunnel?”- Lana Del Rey shared about the album, “What can I say! I'm so grateful to be present and feeling effervescent today. With a mind full of viclets and a forehead warmed by the sun as I pray in the garden. Thank you friends who helped me make this record. Mike Hermosa for kicking me off with our first four songs I wrote- all begun for fun, playing on lazy Sunday afternoons that turned into tunes w big orchestras and simple Melodies that matched each moment we were in.”

Drew Erickson for being the most incredible arranger and producer who could make a messy free-flowing unedited voicenote of mine (fingertips') sound like a masterfully planned song that couldve taken a year to organize because it's so wordy.
Zach Dawes for just being the best. Truly. For helping me meet Jon Batiste after we missed each other four times, because I rarely have new friends sit at my old piano. And for Melodie and my stunning back up singers. Only they could have brought the soul of these songs to life.
Tommy Genesis for being full of fire and a huge inspiration to me allll the time.
Riopy and AX and SIML for lending me your subtle piano compositions that are infused with melodies I only wish I could dream up. You've contributed so much thank you so much for your generosity.
Judah and Chelsea Smith for giving me good guidance even when they don't know they're giving guidance and for letting me record a part of his sermon for this record.
